Kirtan + Movie Charity Night at Café Mila, Godalming

Café Mila Feb 28th 6:30-9:30pm

It is said that chanting is the fastest way to yoga. This form of devotional yoga and the ancient mantras have the ability to yolk us to our higher selves, and to yolk us to each other. With singing we join a stream of consciousness and devotion of not only our neighbours next to us, but also the wider community across the world and throughout time. This night of chanting will be followed by a movie screening of the movie UNITY,  a 2015 documentary film written, directed and produced by Shaun Monson. Like its predecessor Earthlings, the film is presented in chapters, (Cosmic, Mind, Body, Heart and Soul) but this time the documentary is voiced by an astounding cast of 100 celebrity narrators.

ALL PROCEEDS GO TO WIRES TO SUPPORT AUSTRALIAN WILDLIFE RESCUE.

In Australia, catastrophic fires, the worst drought in history and record high temperatures are taking a tragic toll on native wildlife. Hundreds of fires over weeks have burnt over 4.9 million hectares of land in NSW alone. Many animals were already struggling with a lack of water and food due to the drought. With the fires destroying unprecedented amounts of habitat, food shortages have increased and lack of suitable habitat will be a significant long-term challenge for surviving wildlife.

It is impossible to know how many animals have perished and it will be many months before the impact on wild populations can be better understood but ecologists at Sydney University have estimated over 800 million animals have been affected in NSW and over 1 billion animals in Australia since September.

No previous experience of chanting needed! Suggested donation £15.

Suggested donation on the evening of £15.
